A Great Performance Goes Unrewarded.

The Blues played Roker Rangers at a very hot Castleview on Saturday. A full squad of 10, with Sebastian and HAry making their debuts were in a boisterous mood before kick off and this positive energy spilled over into the game.

The Blues were on it like Sonic from the first minute. They dominated the opening 5 to 10 minutes and, without any clear cut chances being created, devised plenty of attacking football and tested the opposition 'keeper several times.

A series of corners for Roker Rangers led to the opening goal with Sebastian putting through his own net in trying to defend. The rest of the first half ebbed and flowed with the Blues playing some very attractive football on show at times.

The second half was similar tot he first in that the Blues had the upper hand, although not as much as in the first half. The team absolutely exhausted themselves in trying to equalise and the Coaches could not have been more proud with their effort. Roker scored a late second goal after a quick counter attack and that second goal put a slant on the scoreline which suggested the the Blues were dominated; which was just not the case at all. Indeed, opposition parents commented how unlucky we were!

Finn was outstanding in the middle of the park and deservedly won the "player of the Game"award meaning he is Captain next week. Harry and Sebastian gave good accounts of themselves with Sebastian nabbing the "Excellent Contribution" medal for shifting between defence and midfield really well. Jake was as dependable as ever, even dribbling out of his box to lay a pass off. Max was dependable but knows he needs to work on his distribution as does Danny who was, as ever, tireless and full of attacking energy. FInlay did well finding himself in some good forward positions and Beth tried to be as creative as ever but didn't shy from the hard work of tackling. Rafi built on his excellent form from last week in attack and defence, so much so that he had trouble catching his breath at the end! Nathan tried hard but was not 100% fit and he did well just to be there.

Too much ball watching and making the "wrong" choice of when to run with it and when to pass were the only things for the Coaches to pick up on. We will work on this again in training.

Outstanding effort Blues and one day you'll have the luck you deserve!
