The club would like to issue the following statement regarding goalkeeper Mitchell Simons.

In the 7th minute of our debut game in the Wearside League First Divison, Simons went down without a challenge.

On inspection it was clear Simons had dislocated his knee.

But thanks to the quick actions of Physio Alex Haswell, we were able to put the knee back in place and treat the pain for the injury.

We would also like to place on record our sincere thanks to Coxhoe Athletic FC.

Their club volunteers helped Mitchell off the pitch and comforted him until the ambulance arrived.

Simons has since been in hospital and is now waiting on an MRI scan.

Unfortunately however, doctor's have taken a first-look and have informed the club and Simons that there is significant ligament damage - therefore he will be out of action for sometime.

From the club we would like to wish Mitchell a speedy recovery and offer him all the support we can.

We will keep everyone up to date on his recovery.
