This upcoming Saturday brings a new challenge to the club as Washington host fellow newcomers Chester Le Street United to Nissan.
On the back of a disappointing Wednesday evening at Horden Welfare Park, Manager Cameron Thompson explained the team won’t take the defeat to heavily.
“The Lads won’t be distraught from Wednesday’s game. We are on a journey and right now isn’t our final destination. We’ve got a long way to go and Wednesday proved that”
“We are improving and learning a lot about ourselves. Implementing a style of play isn’t a over night thing, it takes hours of games/sessions. We will get there and when we do it’ll be a great feeling. Along the way, we’ve got accept there will be set backs and we’ve got to be able to deal with that”
The visitors to Nissan this Saturday are on top form after their recent results of beating Durham Corinthians 5 - 0 and then more recently taking Northern League One side Sunderland RCA to penalties and winning.
Thompson says Washington respects their opponents but won’t take their recent results into account when planning for the game;
“Every game is different and I truly believe that if we do things right well cause a lot of problems for a very good side in Chester le street”
Going into the game, Washington will continue to have captain Jordan Lee missing, Matt Thornton and Stephen Ord also miss out.
However, Washington are boosted by the return of Taylor Mason and Curtis Richardson.
Thompson said “ We have recently been left short going into a few games due to the early registration window leaving us with 18 players. We’ve had 2 subs to use over the last 2 games. It’ll be good to have some choices to make “.
