Ahead of our game today against Coxhoe Athletic, we caught up with skipper Jordan Lee after his impressive performance last week against Richmond Town.

Lee, who captained the team, grabbed himself an assist after putting in a fine performance for the 90 minutes, starting at left-back and ending it further up the field at left-wing.

On the game, which was Washington's first-ever home game, Lee said: "It feels incredible to captain the side in our first game at Nissan in front of what was an unbelievable support.

"I think as a team we all showed leadership qualities and determination to get something from the match which I hope the fans enjoyed.

"I was extremely happy to contribute to the team with an assist to help put us 2-1 up."

Washington were dealt with a harsh reminder of the pain that the Wearside League can cause, after they were caught late-on to concede an equaliser.

Coxhoe proved to be a difficult opponent last-time we faced them, a few lads will be looking to get the 3 points this time out rather than settle for a draw.

"Even though the result didn't go the way we wanted it too, I think everyone's confidence is up within the team due to our recent performances.

"All the lads are looking forward to our game against Coxhoe, hopefully put some more points on the board and start to climb up the table.

"The quality in the squad is there for everyone to see."
