Washington United Football Club, sees itself as a community, within our community we’ve had to stick together, offer advice and most importantly give each other support.

We as a club are massively proud of each and every one of our teams. This newsletter looks to give a shout-out to those working behind the scenes to make the club a success and the players who are having a fantastic time along the way.

This week, we look to put the spotlight on one of our junior sides. Washington United U8 blues.

The majority of the boys came from mini tots where the team were formed in May 2019. Their first ever game on 15/06/2019. in February this year the team entered their first ever Durham FA tournament and won. This is massive for the team and the players still talk about the achievement now!

Coaches Dan Britton and Martin O’Connell are massively proud of their mini tots side. 4 of the boys were chosen to take part in the scouting training session at the stadium of light. An absolutely fantastic experience for them which filled the side full of confidence. Not to mention when England’s No.1 Jordan Pickford came along to cheer on the team last year and stopped to join the team Photo.

The team are proudly sponsored by local and well known shop “ Penshaw Farm Shop and Tea Rooms”. The team are hugely grateful for the support they get from the shop despite the current harsh climate.

Penshaw Farm Shop and Tea Rooms are currently running a fundraiser. This includes selling children’s stories for £4 with all profits going to the children’s heart foundation. The story is called “when Santa got stuck up the monument” head along to the store and show your support.

Our U8 blues are absolutely fantastic and the much couldn’t be happier to have them on board.
