Once more, a lack of finishing cost The Blues against fellow Washington team, The Blacks. The team played some great football and hammered the opposition goal for the last 7 minutes or so, but were unable to put the ball in the net. A few lapses in concentration from The Blues and some absolute pile drivers from The Blacks (which adult keepers would have struggled to stop!) saw The Blacks emerge victorious. A 6-1 result flattered the Blacks and does not reflect the quality of play from The Blues.
Having said that, the Coaches know that we need to move on to the next stage of development for the team as regards to finishing chances whilst still reinforcing the philosophy of trying to play attractive football with the occasional long ball thrown in for good measure.
This Saturday The Blues take on Whitburn & Cleadon Real. A team we have had mixed results against in the past and who, possibly, have just been moved back into our division. So this will be a good test of The Blues' footballing style and a chance to see if training has paid off with a few more chances being taken.
Remember: have fun, take risks, work hard.
