The Blues V Whitburn

Once more The Blues showed how far they have come since starting out together at Under 7.

Players played in unfamiliar positions and all excelled. Indeed, the performances by the team made it impossible for the Coaches to decide on a "Player of the Game" award.

Rafi was tireless, particularly in the 2nd half, and showed the desire he has to gain possession for the team making some impressive runs forward and defensively an; improvement in concentration will enhance his performances even more. Jake, spending his full time playing out of net, scored a goal and showed some great skills to get out of tricky situations; passing will improve with practice. Danny remained alert at the back almost all of the time but was a revelation in running forward from his deep position, he and Jake swapping roles seamlessly and he scored two goals; earlier passes will create even more chances in the future. Beth's game intelligence continues to impress with the quick thinker making some excellent runs into space and covering defensively; moving the ball faster will see her rocket away from the opposition. Max was his usual, solid self and added some good forward passes to his game; if he took more risks going forward he could be the next Harry Maguire. Finn, accomplished outfield in many areas, proved that he can do more than a great job in goal with some wonderful saves. Finally, Nathan tripled his goal tally for The Blues and only the upright prevented him from scoring a hat-trick, powerful running and equally powerful finishing saw him have a very productive stint as a striker; once he learns the position more and finds space he could be unstoppable.

Whitburn played well with one or two stand out performances and took their chances with class. The game was played in a good atmosphere and even some tough challenges from both teams couldn't spoil an all round great game.
