We went into our eighteenth game of the season against Shotton Colts with Jaxon leading us out as captain. With us not playing much in the last few weeks due to poor weather conditions we travelled to Washington Football Hub for today's match with everyone desperate to start playing football again. As the game kicked off you could tell straight away we wanted the win today with all the players looking up for it and having the fight in them. We started strong and controlled the game having the majority of the possession which we used well setting up attacks and passing around. Like the last time we played Shotton Colts we struggled with the same player as he was too big and strong for us, but unlike last time we started tackling him and not being afraid to put a challenge in. On the 4th minute we won a corner which Jaxon swung in and the ball fell to Josh who quickly controlled it and got his shot away, the keeper saved this but the ball fell back to Josh who made sure his second effort wasn't going to be saved. With us creating good chances now it was only a matter of time before we scored again and this was on the 6th minute when Jaxon picked the ball up before going on a run and drawing the defender out, he then played a chipped pass into Josh putting him through on goal which Josh calmly finished it off to double his goals this game and his goals for the season. With Albie being a spectator most of the first half this also meant our defenders and midfielders were doing their jobs in winning the ball back and protecting our goalkeeper. On the 12th minute Shotton Colts had the ball on the half way line with Jaxon running in to put a good tackle in he then carried the ball from the half way line himself to smash it home and put us 3-0 up. At half time we were completely controlling this game with Shotton Colts only looking for one player to run at us which we would quickly get 2 or 3 players around him and try and end the danger, this did often result in our players being pushed away but with us hunting him down like a pack of wolves there was strength in numbers!
The second half we made some changes but asked everyone to keep going and remember what we worked on in training which was running at people but then passing the ball on to other team mates in space. On the 16th minute we attacked once more which saw a massive scramble in the box with our shots constantly getting blocked each time. The ball eventually fell to Blake and Jack who both went for the shot. With both players running away celebrating we had to ask who actually had the shot which both players replied it was both of them, this goal can go down as a Washington United Yellows goal. With Blake being on fire last week and not knowing if he had scored this week he put himself on the score sheet on the 18th minute when he picked the ball up on the half way line before running at Shotton Colts and getting his shot away which flew in to the net. The next couple of minutes saw our wolves turn into pussy cats as the player we done everything to stop ran through on goal twice before finishing off both times to get Shotton Colts on the score sheet. One minute later we had a goal kick and put together our best passing move of the match which saw Fran pass to Josh who took one touch before passing the ball up the line to Blake. Blake then ran up the line before squaring it to Jack in the middle who took a touch and finished it off. This was a great team goal and was exactly what we worked on in training. On the 28th minute the deadly duo were at it again and this time Jack repaid the favour as he ran up the line before passing it into Blake to finish it off. With Glen having to take a loan out last week to keep pay for Blakes hat tricks this week was no different and on the 30th minute the goalkeeper made a good save before kicking the ball straight to Blake who made sure he was going home with another £10!
This week we absolutely bossed the game from start to finish with us putting some good passing moves together and working hard as a team. Our defenders in Seth and Josh once again looked strong at the back and helped start attacks today. In midfield Fran had her usual work rate and stopped attacks before they could even start. With Jaxon heavily involved in all of the goals first half setting up 2 and getting 1 himself he also looked dangerous today. Shay played some good passes today and on a few occasions had some nice quick tricky footwork which saw him get out of tight situations. Up top most weeks we look deadly and the same can be said today with the deadly duo combining well with at least one of them being involved in 5 out of the 8 goals today. It was a quiet day at the back for Albie today but when he came out he wasn't scared to get stuck in had some great battles with the oppositions player. Player of the match today went to Jack for his passing as this is what we learnt in training and he brought this into the match. Sometimes he was at tight angles and instead of taking a hard shot on he looked for a team mate which saw us rewarded on more than one occasion. Albie was also selected today with 'getting to know the players' which is a good read yet again but it is also showing we may have an alcohol problem within our group. With next week seeing us play on the Saturday and Sunday to catch up on games i hope we continue on from today's performance. Come on you Yellows!!
